About Purkal Youth Development Society:

  • A school which is working for the welfare of 435 (soon to 510) economically disadvantaged children by providing them fee free holistic education, comprehensive nutrition, blanket healthcare and hostel facility in Senior Secondary classes.

They provide all that is essential for the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual development of a child. They also run a full-fledged outstanding Sr. Sec. School affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.

  • They have been in existence for two decades now and their experiment with girls’ education has been innovative. Every innovation that they have added to their program has been an answer to a felt need. Experiments have been expensive and challenging but the results have been very satisfactory; indeed, they believe that all children in this country deserve the support that we provide our children. They also believe that this model can transform our country and our youth.

Children grow intellectually and there is a lot of emphasis on physical, emotional and vital development. They practice a Girls preference policy and two- thirds of all our children are girls. About 65 senior secondary girls are also presently housed in their new girls’ hostel. All these girls belong to very poor backgrounds and do not have appropriate conditions at home for self-study after school. Many of their families have 5 members living out in a single room with no electricity or water supply.

This is a fee free program; not only do children get all their learning resources for free and receive outstanding education but we also take care of their complete nutritional needs and provide comprehensive health attention. All the children have excellent computer skills and their ability to handle both English and Hindi are excellent.
